Networked Electronic Warfare Training Simulator (NEWTS)

Our knowledge of real-life EW operations and innovative approach to military simulation training led us to create the Networked Electronic Warfare Training Simulator (NEWTS).

NEWTS comprises three core applications:

  • Electronic Warfare Mission Support Tool (BATTLEYE)
  • Communications Exploitation Training Tool (COMETT)
  • Signals of Interest (SOI) Repository

All are non-operational, procedural training applications, and have been designed to be used over LAN and / or WAN architecture.

They can be used in isolation for individual training, but when combined they replicate a real-life EW operations intelligence cycle, fulfilling collective training environments:

  • Planning and direction of EW assets (BATTLEYE)
  • Collection and exploitation of communications data (COMETT)
  • Processing, analysis and collation of information (SOI Repository)
  • Production, dissemination and reporting of intelligence to commanders via BATTLEYE and messaging tools

NEWTS provides a first-class suite of tools that facilitates effective signal intelligence and EW training based in our training facility in Lincoln, or can be purchased for in-house training delivery requirements.

BATTLEYE

Delivering effective communications

Reliable communication ability when deployed is crucial to personnel safety and a mission’s positive outcome.

Our innovative technology-based mission planning tool, BATTLEYE can accurately access and test communication between assets anywhere in the world before personnel are deployed. BATTLEYE determines the probability of effective communications by accessing the impact of terrain and elevation and power supply requirements.

By enabling effective communication between deployed military personnel, BATTLEYE can help reduce risk in field and secure operational advantage by providing insight into adversary communication asset locations.

Communication planning that enhances operational advantage

BATTLEYE is a tried, tested and proven mission support tool for mission planning of in-field communications that can determine the impact the local environment to deliver secure communications for personnel on the ground.

BATTLEYE can provide insight into the location of adversary communication assets and the potential for own communications to be intercepted.

BATTLEYE is an impactful training software able to highlight the complexity and range of factors that affect communications.

Immersive electronic warfare and signals intelligence training

BATTLEYE can also be integrated into MASS’ Networked Electronic Warfare Training Simulator (NEWTS) to create a high-quality simulated environment for air, land and maritime electronic warfare and signals intelligence (EWSI) personnel. This enables users to experience the impact of a local environment on communications within a safe and secure environment, before applying their skills in a real-world situation.

BATTLEYE technical features:

ITU modelling

Ability to utilise digital terrain data - SRTM1 (down to 1m) and SRTM3 (down to 90m)

Able to incorporate a unique graphic processer to speed up processing time and reduce CPU usage

10-degree modelling to produce faster results

CounterWorX

Specialist tools for Countermeasure Development

Harnessing unique in-house developed technologies, our specialists have developed CounterWorX®, a modular suite of modelling and simulation software tools that take measures, such as a risk threat vulnerability matrix, to a much-improved level.

Used individually or collectively these tools reduce the cost and time for analysing threat systems, modelling their performance and producing countermeasures or ploys to increase the survivability of your platforms.

CounterWorX Suite

The CounterWorX® toolset simplifies the reverse engineering of complex weapon systems through using open source information. The threat system analysis, modelling and simulation included in the toolset provide unprecedented technical capability for countermeasure development and engagement simulation across all operational domains.

What is Electronic Warfare Data Management?

Electronic Warfare Data Management describes the capability to:

  • Manage and edit source material
  • Maintain an analysed electronic warfare reference data set, known as the 'golden view'
  • Answer queries and create mission-specific EW data products.

MASS is at the frontline of providing organisations with fully integrated toolsets for the management, processing and storage of large volumes of complex intelligence mission data.

Managing your EW data through THURBON

Managing electronic warfare data and organising collected intelligence into a single repository supports the operational decision-maker, and is crucial for effective platform and weapon system operations.

Developed by EW users for EW users, THURBON provides essential operational support and enhanced situational awareness, supporting a common approach across different environments.

Through THURBON you have the capability to manage, process and store complex platform, sensor and weapon system data in a single hub, supporting your intercept analysis, EOB production and mission preparation.

In use round the world, THURBON delivers coherent and consistent intelligence from the most sophisticated military platforms and sensor networks, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing support costs. It is simple to integrate, use and configure.

Benefits of using THURBON

Increasing Operational Effectiveness

The ability to store, fuse, manage and conduct effective analysis of EW data and intelligence has a direct and critical operational impact. Without such information, many of today’s platforms cannot operate or are rendered ineffective.

Increasing Productivity

Through the use of automation, THURBON reduces operator workload and error-prone processes, as well as reducing mission data turnaround time through end-to-end data automation.

Stretch Potential

The data repository in THURBON is user-configuarable, which means it is designed from the outset to be future-proof providing effective operational support to 4th and 5th generation platforms and beyond.
